Resorts Atlantic City is a casino and hotel located on the Atlantic City boardwalk. It's owned and operated by the same Indian Tribe that owns Mohegan Sun Casino and Hotel in Connecticut.

If you gamble in New Jersey at any online casinos, you will notice that these brands operate under the same umbrella. Resorts is one of the oldest casinos in the city, having opened its doors in 1978. In recent years, Resorts has undergone quite the resurgence. Its location on the boardwalk makes it a hot spot, especially during the summer months when the beach is filled with vacationers.

The major changes to Resorts as a property began in 2010. Due to its old age, many knew that these renovations were long overdue. With new owners came a new approach to the management of the casino resort as a whole. The injection of money paid dividends, as over the coming years Resorts would become one of the few comeback stories in Atlantic City.

In the greater gaming industry, Resorts has become known for its variety of partnerships. Perhaps its most notable venture is with PokerStars, the online poker brand that is known worldwide.

In addition to this, the partnership with Mohegan Sun means that players have a few different destinations where their casino play can turn into redeemable value in the form of comps and benefits. Resorts was all but left for dead, and now it is one of the most booming casinos on the entire Atlantic City boardwalk.

Rewards

There are two different hotel towers at Resorts AC, each with unique features. The first tower is called Rendezvous Tower. The selling point of this section of rooms is found in the floor space. Resorts promotes the 512 to 576 square-foot size of their standard rooms in this tower, the largest of all hotel-casinos in Atlantic City. In addition, there are a total of 42 suites in the Rendezvous Tower. These rooms are even larger at 1,090 to 1,150 sq. ft.

The second tower is named Ocean Tower. Instead of size being the primary feature of these rooms, it is instead its proximity to the water that is the main attraction. This is the older tower of rooms available at Resorts, having been opened since 1978 when the casino originally debuted. It has undergone renovations but is not the most modern selection of rooms in the city.

Pools

Though Resorts only has one pool to choose from, it is among the more unique settings within AC. The pool is branded as both indoor and outdoor. It is located partially inside and partially outside, but it is heated, making it comfortable to be in the water no matter the temperature outside.

As you might expect, the pool has extended hours during the peak, warmer months of the year, and the schedule is shortened when those months come to a close. As is standard, you must be a registered guest of Resorts in order to visit the pool. This is much more of a casual, even family setting than a party destination like you will find at some other pools, especially during the summer months.

Dining at Resorts

Resorts is around the middle of the road when compared to the dining competition from other hotels and casinos in Atlantic City. The selection is not overwhelming, but there are still an ample number of choices, both in food type and price range.

High-end dining

  • Eastwind – This is Resorts top-rated Asian restaurant. There is a lower tier, toned down version of this location available at lower prices as well.
  • Cielo Wine Bar – The wine bar at Resorts is self-explanatory. While we wouldn't recommend this for dining alone, it is a destination that most casinos in AC do not offer.
  • Capriccio – A high-end Italian restaurant, guests are encouraged to call ahead for reservations due to the popularity of Capriccio.
  • Gallagher's Steak House – Every casino has a steakhouse, and Resorts is no exception. Along with Capriccio, this is as fancy as it gets at Resorts.

Casual dining

  • Breadsticks – Breadsticks is an ideal option for quick, healthy food, namely salads.
  • Eastwind Express – Eastwind Express is the lower-end version of Eastwind, featuring quicker, less costly Asian dishes.
  • Landshark Bar & Grill – Landshark Bar & Grill may be promoted as casual, but make no mistake about it, you can easily spend a lot of money here. Located just off the boardwalk, expect to find expensive beers on the outdoor deck.
  • Margaritaville Las Vegas has a Margaritaville and so too does Resorts. If you are walking along the boardwalk, you won't be able to miss it.
  • Burger Bar – Self-descriptive, Burger Bar at Resorts is a lower end, fast option for traditional burgers.
  • Food Court – The food court offers a number of different menus to choose from, with the selection changing frequently.

Casino

The casino at Resorts has had a number of changes over the years. Until its most recent renovations, it had rapidly been losing market share in Atlantic City. Once management decided to target locals and an older crowd, however, business at the tables began to pick up.

The casino floor shares space with the Margaritaville-themed gaming area, much like you can find next to Flamingo in Las Vegas. This, as you might guess, is a popular spot for the Jimmy Buffet fan crowd.

Resorts does not have the largest gaming floor in AC, but they do offer all of the primary table games. They also have a wide selection of slots. Resorts promotes the fact that they are routinely adding hundreds of new slot games, which is in line with their aim of being ahead of the competition on the boardwalk.

Nightlife

Nightlife is a bit different at Resorts when compared to other AC casinos. Instead of nightclubs, Resorts solely offers bars. With that said, they have a number of bars to choose from. While most have their own theme, the Jimmy Buffet name is recurring, and the bars are built to entertain the crowds of this generation.

Resorts is known for its older-skewing crowd, so you shouldn't come here expecting loud house music and a younger clientele. If this is what you're after, your best bet is to check out Harrah's or Borgata.

Shows

Resorts has a number of shows that feature moderately popular celebrities, but they do not typically carry top of the line headliners. The focus is generally on having a consistent lineup of entertainment options, but the big names are not usually found here.

The show schedule is fairly comprehensive, with some frequent acts. We recommend checking what's going on at the time of your particular visit.

Attractions

The biggest attractions at Resorts are Margaritaville (in many forms) and the boardwalk bars. These are two unique offerings that you won't be able to find anywhere else in Atlantic City.

VIP and player program

The player program at Resorts is known as the Star Rewards Card. This card uses a four-tier system. This system is most similar to Total Rewards, both in the number of tiers and the benefits that can be earned. If you look at some of the benefits themselves (like annual 'Celebration dinners'), you would think that you are actually viewing the list of TR benefits, they are really that similar.

The first tier in the program is Premiere. From here players can elevate to a gold card named Epic. After this comes Paramount status, with Red Carpet being the highest player level available at Resorts. The benefits scale up both in terms of volume and quality as you reach higher tiers.

Resorts has a players lounge that is available to all players who are Epic status or higher. For frequent players, especially in a town like AC where alcohol can be comped, this is a huge benefit. Other popular features of the program include priority line privileges, a unique 'friends and family room rate,' a free bottle of wine at their Italian restaurant, complimentary spa access, and invitations to exclusive events.

In terms of overall benefit volume and quality, Resorts is one of the best in Atlantic City. Plus, you will be able to earn credit for your play at other Resorts properties as well, making your card status that much more valuable.

Using your points and comp dollars

Like all player programs in Atlantic City, players at Resorts casino earn comps independently of their status points. You can be a low-status player and still earn real money comps that can be used for the cost of hotel rooms, dining, or shopping at the resort.

Your actual promotional offers will vary based on your status and recent play. Even if you are a high-status player, you'll need to remain active if you want to continue to receive valuable promotions at the casino.

Tips for your visit

Casino Tropicana Atlantic City Rewards Program

Resorts took a new approach to its marketing with their launch of the first gay nightclub in the city, called 'Prohibition.' While this will not be of interest to all of their customers, it is a feature that is worth noting simply because it does not exist at the other competing casinos in the town.

Resorts features an old-school, roaring '20s theme. The clientele at the casino hotel tends to be a tad bit older than most properties in AC. However, this has been changing in recent years. Resorts is one of the oldest casinos in Atlantic City and it remains a staple that all guests should check out at least once.
